Coach Harris is a native of Detroit, Michigan where he was an All-City Basketball player. He is a graduate of Virginia Union University where he played both basketball and football. Coach Harris played shooting guard on the basketball team and was a member of two C.I.A.A conference championship teams. Coach Harris then decided to return to the football field where he had not been since his Sophomore year of high school. He played wide receiver and earned All-Rookie team honors in his first year back on the football field and was also named conference player of the week twice.

 

Professional Career: After receiving his degree in Criminal Justice, Coach Harris was invited to an undrafted rookie try-out with the New York Jets. Upon returning to Richmond, he worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Criminal Investigator for seven years and was recognized nationally for his work in the field. Coach Harris then became a Juvenile Probation Officer for the county of Hanover for six years. He is currently the President and founder of Next Level Mentoring and family services which provides therapeutic mentors to at-risk young men, a re-entry program, and athletic mentoring/training. He also is the Board president of Leaders for Life Inc. which offers life skill counselors to mentally disabled adults and In-home clinical services for children with mental health disabilities. Coach Harris is also soon to be a published author as his book is set to be released later this fall. "The Games Have Brought Me, Riches." A book about his life growing up in Detroit how he overcame barriers and the importance athletics played in his life.

Coaching Experience: Coach Harris has 20 years of coaching experience with seven being on the high school level as a WR, DB, QB, offensive coordinator, and is currently a member of the Douglas Freeman High School coaching staff.  U.S.A Football honored coach Harris by naming him 2016 National Thanks Coach of the year, for coaching and his work in the community. He began his coaching career on the youth level, which still is very important to him as he continues to volunteer today. Coach Harris has seen many of his players go on to receive scholarships and play at the next level.
